Greetings from the
sunny Okanagan. A lot has happened recently ...
TERRACE MOUNTAIN FIRE
The Terrace Mountain fire
gave us a scary awakening. It prompted me to draw up a new WILDFIRE
PROTECTION PLAN to
address the problem of “talk” on how to run away from
a fire, but no idea on how to mitigate the fire threat itself. Read my plan on how to convert the talk and endless “studies” to
an effective plan of action where we might actually be able to
save our homes. I have submitted this plan to the Regional District
of Central Okanagan and have met with a favourable response from
the Directors and staff there. As well, it was sent to our local
MLA Ben Stewart.
The endless debate on a North Westside Fire/Rescue fireboat drags on. The Directors of the Regional District of Central
Okanagan have read my submissions to them about the fire boat and
have delayed it for another year until the “efficacy” of
it can be demonstrated. No one has seen fit to present any “science,
photos, concepts, plans, options, or intelligent discussion "
to us taxpayers who have to foot the bill. So, I have endeavoured
to provide as much information to you as I can. You can evaluate
it on its merits, think about it, ask questions. Both plans require
a lot of reading, but worth it if you have the time to save both
your home and your tax dollars.
I welcome all ideas, input and inquiries.
Sincerely,
Dave |
